This sermon was preached at Westminster Presbyterian Church’s morning service on August 29, 2021.
In his letter to the church at Ephesus, Paul first prayed for them in Ephesians 1:15-22. In that prayer, Paul prayed that God would give the Ephesians ‘the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him’. In Ephesians 3:14-21, Paul again prays for them. And he now prays for divine empowerment for the Ephesian believers. The power Paul prays for on behalf of his brethren at Ephesus is the kind of strengthening that we all need to live lives of joy, and lives worthy of the calling to which God has called us in Jesus – Ephesians 4:1.
