The Apostle John begins his gospel by speaking about a Word – and in verses 1 to five of chapter one of his gospel, a passage often called the prologue of John’s Gospel – John describes the Word in beautiful, poetic terms. This Word, which is also a person, is the Word of God, the Word that is God, the Word that created all things and, most importantly, the Word which saves us, the Word that gives us light and life. As we want study the prologue of John’s Gospel, we’ll see that this Word that John is talking about is a Word that you and I must know.
