This sermon was preached via Zoom at our Sunday evening service on September 19, 2021, when our church was unable to gather due to covid restrictions in place at the time. The passage studied is Daniel 2. This message was the second sermon in a series examining the Book of Daniel. The following is a brief introduction to the sermon.
A passage like Daniel 2 is very good for us to read in uncertain times – especially times when there is upheaval in our world. Daniel 2 helps us get our perspective on current affairs, the world around us and our own lives into right order. We see in Daniel that the mighty nations and powers of the world are eventually ‘shattered and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors. The wind carried away, and not a trace of them could be found,’ – Daniel 2:35. The message God gave the Babylonian king in Daniel 2 is the same message we should take from this chapter – God is sovereign. The kingdom of Jesus has been inaugurated and is spreading across the world. And one day soon, He will return in great power and glory. And every knee will bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord, to the Glory of God the Father.
