This sermon, which was preached at WPC Belconnen at the morning service on Sunday, May 2, 2021, examines the latter part of the prologue of John’s Gospel – John 1:6-18.
In this text, we learn how God graciously saved us from sin and death. And the heart of today’s text is that in Jesus, God entered time and space in order to rescue us and reconcile us to Himself. The Gospel writer, John, wants us to understand that Jesus is more than a good teacher, He is more than a miracle worker, He is far greater than just a good example. Jesus is God-become-flesh. With all the bad news stories in the media today, there sometimes seems to be no hope left in the world today. But there is a wonderful hope – and it’s found in Jesus. He came and died for our sin so that we can become beloved children of God. And He is coming again soon to make all things new – Revelation 21:5.
