This sermon was preached at WPC Belconnen’s Sunday evening service on November 21, 2021. The Bible passage being expounded is Daniel 10:1-21
In his book, Knowing God, J.I. Packer writes the following about Daniel’s prayers on behalf of the people of Israel:
‘People who know God are before anything people who pray, and the first point where their zeal and energy for God’s glory come to expression is in their prayers.’ We see, in today’s reading that a mighty angel of God is sent to Daniel from the heavenly throne room in response to ‘Daniel’s words’ to God in prayer. We may not receive a heavenly messenger to speak to us in person when we pray. However, while the means of divine revelation may have changed – and we have the entire plan of God revealed in the canon of Scripture, God has not changed. Just as God powerfully and amazingly answered Daniel’s fervent prayers, so He answers our prayers.
