Pr Dan Anderson preached this sermon on Psalm 121 at WPC Belconnen’s Sunday evening service on August 28, 2022.
Psalm 121 is the second Psalm in a series of Songs of Ascent in the Book of Psalms. The Israelites would sing these Songs of Ascent as they made their way up to Jerusalem for one of the three prescribed annual festivals (Passover, Pentecost and Tabernacles). Pr Anderson said these psalms are sung by pilgrims on their way to festivals in Jerusalem. He said these psalms are also for Christians on their journey from this world into the next. In this sermon, he talked about why pilgrimage is such an excellent metaphor for living as a follower of Jesus.
